Investment casting, also referred to as "melted wax casting" or "lost wax casting," is a precise casting technique utilized for producing high-precision, intricately shaped, and high-quality steel components.
The process begins by crafting a wax model of the desired shape and size. This wax model is then meticulously coated with multiple layers of ceramics and other materials to form a sturdy mold. By heating the mold, the wax model melts and drains out, leaving behind a hollow cavity.
Subsequently, molten steel is poured into this cavity, filling the space that was previously occupied by the wax model. The steel is allowed to cool and solidify completely. After the casting has hardened, the mold is either broken or dissolved away, revealing a steel casting that matches the original wax model in shape and size with great precision.
